Teachers Unite for Student Safety SURVEY

In partnership with NESRI (National Economic and Social Rights Initiative), Teachers Unite is documenting teacher views about what makes our schools safe. HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHERS: CLICK HERE to take the short survey. Grassroots organizations across the city are concerned about the lack of discipline strategies that empower youth, and the rise in strategies that criminalize students. How do teachers fit into this citywide work? Click on the "Stay in Touch" link on the left and sign up to receive future updates about ways to get involved.   Check out Youth, Camera, Action! Watch documentaries that feature youth discussing the School to Prison Pipeline as well as school safety agents, police officers, metal detectors, the over-reliance on suspensions, over-emphasis on discipline, and criminalization of students. The films are accompanied by a School to Prison Pipeline Toolkit that includes information on the issues and ways to take action.
