JOB ANNOUNCEMENT:
> Summer Program Director

> AWAAM’s Summer Program provides young women ages 14 and up with
> comprehensive training and hands-on experience in community
> organizing and multi-media production. The goals of this year’s
> Summer Program are to advance AWAAM’s social justice campaigns and
> to continue the process of advancing AWAAM’s organizational
> infrastructure.
>
> Summer Program Director guides 3 high-school aged facilitators in
> their process of learning curriculum development and facilitation
> skills while developing a curriculum in community organizing for
> their peers and guiding the small group through the curriculum. The
> Summer Program Director receives support from AWAAM’s director and
> has access to a network of Summer Interns working for Social Justice
> city-wide. The job takes place June 17through mid-August 16.

> Responsibilities:
>
> Guide high school interns in curriculum development (agendas,
> workshops, reviewing, evaluating, documenting)
> Correspond with outside organizations and individuals to coordinate
> site placements, mentorships and organizational visits.
> Train mentors and high school interns in curriculum development and
> group facilitation for community organizing using a popular education
> approach.
> Outreach
> Conduct health/wellness workshops
> Track equipment inventory
> Coordinate media production mentorships

> Seeking the following:
>
> Firm grasp of group facilitation and decision-making
> Experience in youth empowerment
> Experience in grassroots community organizing
> Firm grasp of time management
> Understanding of Media Organizing
> Experience in curriculum development
> Understanding of media messaging and branding a plus
>
